Israeli Customs Duty Calculator

Before deciding whether to install, talk to the skill

Classify products into Israeli 8-digit HS codes and calculate full landed cost for imports to Israel: customs duty, VAT 18%, and purchase tax (mas kniya). Use when user asks about Israel import tax on an Amazon or AliExpress order, the personal import threshold, Shaar Olami tariff lookup, FTA preference from US/EU/UK/Canada, or commercial CIF clearance. Do NOT use for domestic VAT reporting (use israeli-vat-reporting) or for export documentation (use israeli-export-shipping-kit).

The Problem

Importing goods into Israel (whether a single Amazon order or a commercial shipment) triggers up to three separate taxes: customs duty, VAT, and purchase tax (mas kniya). Thresholds shift (the personal exemption flipped from $75 to $150 and back to $75 within a few months in 2026), duty depends on an 8-digit HS code that is not the same as the US or EU code, and free-trade preferences only help when you produce the right origin proof. Buyers constantly over- or under-estimate the landed cost.

Changelog

v1.2.0

Re-confirmed the personal-import exemption at USD 75 for July 2026, and corrected the rules around it. The above-USD-500 band claimed duty, VAT and purchase tax always apply, but only some goods owe duty and purchase tax, so the skill was overestimating landed cost across that band. The USD 1,000 broker and import-declaration requirement was stated as law when the source states only a tax consequence. E-cigarettes were removed from the exemption carve-out because the quoted text names tobacco and alcoholic beverages only. Added the 72-hour anti-splitting rule. The calculator had four bugs: a non-USD parcel silently lost its exemption, a parcel of exactly USD 75 was taxed, the duty waiver in the 75-500 band was not enforced, and a bottle of whisky printed as exempt.

v1.1.1

Personal-import exemption threshold corrected to $75 (the temporary $130 window expired 1 June 2026).

v1.1.0

CRITICAL: personal-import VAT/customs exemption ceiling updated to USD 130 (Smotrich order effective midnight 24-25 Feb 2026 after Knesset revoked $150). Added Sha'ar Olami calculator URL, tobacco/alcohol full-tax carve-out, USD 1000 commercial-shipment trigger, Israel Post storage policy.

Use when user asks about multi-gateway payment integration, "slikat kartisim", "tashlumim", payment routing, Shva network, BOI payment-services regulation, gateway comparison, or building a payment abstraction layer for Israeli merchants. Provides unified API patterns, installment handling, Shva clearing rules, and regulatory compliance. Do NOT use for single gateway setup (use cardcom-payment-gateway or tranzila-payment-gateway instead).

Integrate Grow by Meshulam payment gateway into Israeli applications -- covers payment pages (iframe/redirect/SDK), tokenization, recurring billing, payment links, refunds, invoices, webhooks, and 3DS authentication via the Grow Light API. Use when user asks to accept payments via Grow or Meshulam, set up "slikat ashrai" with Grow, create payment links (drishat tashlum), handle recurring charges (hora'ot keva) via Grow tokens, process refunds or Bit cancellations, integrate Grow webhooks, or mentions "Grow", "Meshulam", "grow-il", "meshulam.co.il", Grow payment page, or Grow API. Prevents costly integration mistakes by guiding correct FormData request format, server-side-only restrictions, and the mandatory approveTransaction step that many developers miss. Do NOT use for Cardcom integration (use cardcom-payment-gateway), Tranzila integration (use tranzila-payment-gateway), general payment orchestration across multiple gateways (use israeli-payment-orchestrator), or non-payment queries.

Detect price gaps between TASE and US listings of the same dual-listed company (Check Point, NICE, CyberArk, Teva, and 40+ pairs), converting via the Bank of Israel representative rate and flagging gaps above a threshold. Use when the user asks to compare a dual-listed stock's Tel Aviv vs NASDAQ/NYSE price, spot cross-listing arbitrage, or understand a premium/discount between exchanges. Provides per-pair gap %, trading-hours-overlap confidence, and currency-adjusted comparison. Do NOT use for single-market analysis (use tase-stock-analysis).
